This status, conferred by IAPMEI, was first introduced in 2008, to honor companies with superior performance profiles, grant them notoriety and optimize financing conditions that allow them to develop growth and strengthening strategies on a competitive basis.
Awarded by IAPMEI, which recently won a European entrepreneurship award (IAPMEI wins European entrepreneurship award), in partnership with Turismo de Portugal and several partner banks, this certificate is based on an assessment of the best ratings and economic and financial indicators.
From the group of PME Leaders, the companies with the best annual performance are then honored as PME Excellence.
